Xpressions 2015

ITM Business School, Chennai breezed in to the year 2015 with an International marketing symposium “Confluence 2015” held on 9th and 10th January 2015. It focused on the theme “MARKETING STRATEGIES FOR THE GLOBAL SLOW DOWN”. The event elicited outstanding paper presentations and intense analytical discussions. The best of academia from both national and international universities, and renowned people of vast industry experience, enlightened the audience with their rich insights.


There were three eminent key note speakers: Dr. Bharadwaj, Professor, Great Lakes Institute Of Management, spoke about “Marketing Strategies to over come Global slowdown”, Mr. Vijayasarathy, Managing Director, Gastro Pharmaceuticals India Pvt Ltd, talked about “Marketing Strategies to overcome Global slowdown in Pharma Industry”, and Mr.Vinod Varghese, Product head - Credit Cards, HDFC Bank, spoke about “Marketing Strategies to over come Global Slow down in Credit Cards”.  A Journal titled, Business Sciences International Research, was published, which was one of the major highlights of the event. The Journal was published with ISBN and ISSN number and the hard copy was handed over to the scholars at the end of the event. It was followed by an Industrial visit to TCS and a Cultural Fest organized by the students, which added more color to the event

GUEST LECTURES AND WORKSHOPS

Guest Lectures and Workshops provide a platform for the students to have a continuous industry institute interface which helps the students to have a better understanding of the implementation of various managerial concepts and strategies in an organizational context. ITM Business School, values Guest Lectures as an integral part of pedagogy. ITM had the privilege of having many corporate leaders in the campus to provide students with deep insights of industry environment and its challenges and opportunities.




Students had the opportunity to listen to Mr. Laxminaryanan, Marketing head, Price Water Coopers, speaking on “Entrepreneurship for Managers”, Mr. K N Somasundaram, Trainer, NESTO speaking on “Financial Education “ and Mr. V. Ajay Subramanian, Trainer, NESTO educating them on Advance Excel & VBA – 1.

 Eminent people like Mrs. Sumitra Ghosh, Head- Special Initiatives, TCS, Mr. Muthu Ganesh, Manager- Wealth, Standard Chartered Bank, Mr. Chandra Venkataraju, Analytics & Insights Domain, TCS, Ms Mithra Malini V, Caterpillar, Mr. Shahshikanth Jayaraman, Founder, HR Sangam shared their thoughts with the students and inspired them


INDUSTRIAL VISITS


Industrial visits can be considered as a fundamental requisite for management education, by which students get an exposure to the industrial environment and its functioning. It helps the students to have a first hand knowledge on how to improve the efficiency, and competency in their area of specialization. ITM focuses on providing students an understanding of the practical implications of theoretical concepts and students were taken on an industrial visit to the Reserve Bank of India and IGP Engineers Pvt. Ltd.

Further students were taken on a field visit to a village near Thirukazukundram which helped the students to have an understanding of rural marketing, which was a novel experience for the students. Students interacted with the villagers and understood the significance and reach of rural marketing strategies.


CONVOCATION CEREMONY OF 2013-2015 BATCH


The 21st convocation ceremony of ITM Chennai was a proud moment for the ITM fraternity, where we celebrated the successful graduation of students of 2013-2015 batch in a glittering ceremony held at Residency Towers, T.Nagar on 20-06-15. It was the day where perspiration gave way for aspirations. The day reflected the culmination of the student’s academic achievement. It was a time of celebration for students, families, friends, faculty and staff. Parents were elated at the victory of their children. 



Smt. Shobana Kamineni, Vice President of Confederation of Indian Industries and also Vice Chairperson of M/s. Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Limited, was the chief guest and delivered the convocation address. Smt. V.P.Rajini Reddy, founder and managing director of M/s.  Exemplarr Worldwide Limited, Chennai was the guest of honor on the occasion and delivered the keynote address.  Dr. Prasanna Sivanandam, Campus Head and Director of ITM Chennai submitted the annual report of ITM business school. The toppers from Marketing, Finance and International Business were awarded. It was a day to cherish, when the students took their stride towards their future with optimism and confidence filled with a feeling of success and accomplishment

MANAGEMENT DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM


Comprehensive and relevant Management development programs for the resource people in the education sector are much needed to overcome many development challenges related to their educational institutions and hence there is an increasing need to develop the managerial competencies of academician’s. ITM Business School conducted a one day workshop on “Managerial Competencies for Educational Administrators”, on 26-06-15, which was focused on transforming academicians to become a better leader, as well as a more valuable contributor to broader institutional goals. The event focused targeted on assisting the academicians to have a smooth and seamless transition to the administrative field. Dr Lalitha Balakrishnan, principal, M.O.P Vaishnav College for Women, Chennai, was the chief guest and  Ms Sumitra Gosh, Head – Special Initiatives TCS, Chennai was the Guest of honor. The event had active participation from senior faculty members of various institutions across Tamilnadu.

INAUGURATION OF PGDM i-Connect


ITM Business School Chennai, with its passion for academic excellence and sustainable development buzzed out with the vibrancy of the fresh batch of students, who were warmly welcomed to ITM Family on 08-07-2015. The events commenced with the procession led by Prof P V Jaikumar, Registrar, ITM Business School, followed by the students.


The chief guest of the event, Mr. Moorthy Chokkanathan, President & Global Head- enterprise solutions, Hexaware Chennai, Dr Prasanna Sivanandam, Campus Head, ITM Business School, Chennai and the faculty and staff welcomed the procession.

The meeting began with the lighting of ITM vidya Jyothi by Mr. Moorthy Chokkanathan, Dr Prasanna Sivanandam, Prof P V Jaikumar, Prof H Ahammed Shafi, PGP Coordinator and two students from the new batch 2015-2017. Dr Prasanna Sivanandam welcomed the gathering of students, parents, faculty and staff.  She introduced ITM Business School to the new students and they were given a quick glance of all the activities and events happening in ITM. 


Mr. Moorthy Chokkanathan gave the students a bird’s eye view of the opportunities awaiting them in the corporate world and the requirement of MNC’s to have employable and self motivated management graduates. Keynote address was delivered by Ms Gayathree Krishna, Business Manager, CORI Engineers Pvt Ltd, Chennai, who is also an Alumni of ITM Chennai. She spoke about how ITM helped in honing her skills and moulded her. She shared from her own experience about the changing perception about women in the corporate scenario and also how the right levels of confidence and enthusiasm will help you to attain broader goals. Students undertook an oath delivered by Prof P V Jaikumar, Registrar, ITM Business School, Chennai. They pledged to exhibit integrity and commitment in their work and towards ITM.

After the inaugural session, students had an ice breaking session, where they had many games and activities. It made the students to come out of their inhibitions and started interacting with each other and learn the basics of team building. ITM family heartily welcomed the new batch with a commitment to explore and deliver the best. 


INDUCTION PROGRAM 


A one week induction program was offered to the fresh batch of students and they were introduced to the basics of management education and its opportunities. Through various games and activities, they had an opportunity to develop their communication, interpersonal and team building skills. There were many thought provoking sessions giving them a glimpse of business environment, managerial skills, strategy and ethics which make them adept at meeting the expectations of prospective employers.

Students had a wide array of activities and an insight session on meditation, which helped them to let go of the negative energy and fear in them and filled with a positive attitude and inner strength as they embark on their new journey with ITM Business School.


OUTBOUND TRAINING PROGRAM


As a part of the induction program, students were taken on a surprise trip for an outbound training program by Ms Neha Aggarwal, Operations Head, Skills Grow. It was held at Game fishing Farm at Thiruporur where students had an exciting session of learning and fun. It focused on enhancing decision making and analytical skills, developing the ability to function effectively in groups and developing leadership skills of the students.

It was an activity based learning session, where students were introduced to learning by doing and could develop their creative skills. Students participated in the training program with much enthusiasm and took it as an amazing opportunity to unleash the potential in them.
